Whitney Houston - I will always love you ...

![]()
"I will always love you" by Whitney Houston is one of the greatest and most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life.
How sad that today we have to mourn with America the tragic death of such an outstandingly brilliant artist, one of the best ever to have walked the face of this planet.
Whitney, not only would America miss you; the world is so much the poorer without you. We'll miss you.

1994: Nelson Mandela and Whitney
Memories: I'll always remember Whitney lovingly resting her head on the shoulder of South Africa's first black president in 1994 at a special performance by her at a White House dinner in honor of Mandela. A memory never to be forgotten.
Gabriella (Chen Xiangyu), maybe you can share on Music Craze with us this song by Whitney, "I will always love you". I'll appreciate that very much. It was also the theme song for that unforgettable 1992 movie, "The Bodyguard", in which she shared the main role with Kevin Costner.
The following is a short extract from www.soulbounce.com about her and this song:
"It's no exaggeration that Whitney Houston is (was) one of the most beloved entertainers of her generation. Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" is pure perfection. From the slow and steady acapella opening to the soaring big finish, this song is one of the greatest vocal performances ever. It broke long-standing chart records and went on to become the worldwide bestselling single by a female artist."

Whitney Houston's voice is powerful. My favorite song of her is I HAVE NOTHING. She sang out the feeling of my heart. I knew about the reason she passed away was she took drugs, and I was shocked. Anyway, she still is a great singer in this world, her music is always in our hearts.I also hope that everyone cherish their life and stay away from drugs.

When I was young, I always listened to classical love music.Of course, indluding this song,so I have had listened to it years ago.In my mind, she is a good singer who has a beautiful voice with a strong power to make the song full of spirit. Also, accept this song "I will always love you", "Because I love you" is my favourite song too.Not only they're love songs, but make me feel enjoyable and sweet. You know, when I heard of the news about her death, I was suddenly shocked!! How can a triumphant woman die like that? It is unbelievable. But what was the worst, I have heard she dropped into the swimmingpool by accident?? How ridiculous!! By the way, Whitney Houston ,I will always love you too...

I with all the praise for Whitney! 20 years ago she was, perhaps the greatest living singer but...
...then drugs and alcohol took her down a dark path. The irony? Her biggest hit was not "I will Always Love You" but "The Greatest Love of All" which is about loving yourself! She could not have loved herself if she used drugs! She could not have loved herself is she let her husband beat her!
So very sad that she died never having loved herself!
Favorite song - our national anthem - she made it important to Americans again! I will post the mp3!

Yeah Tom, I'm aware of that other song being her biggest hit. I'm looking forward to listening when you've uploaded the song (guess it'll be in the Music Craze group, not so?).
About her life ... sad story indeed. But which successful artist doesn't have skeletons in the cupboard, or hasn't been involved with some drug, sex od domestic violence scandal? Janis Joplin, Michael Jackson, to more than one of the Beatle boys, to more than one of Mick Jager's band (forgotten the name now), and so one can carry on. Don't ask me why it happens to them. But fact is, as you've recognized, in her prime Whitney was the darling of pop, a super star. I'm really sad about her death.

Hi Vanessa. Great to see you back! Guess what ..?! I'm back too!! :-)
Glad to hear that you appreciated this woman too (and her music, obviously). But I'm not sure where you've heard about the swimming pool story ... It appears not to be correct, I guess. According to the police reports I read in the Washington Post, she died while taking a bath. I guess she could even have drowned in the bath, but they didn't publish the autopsy report yet. But, as I understand, the main cause for her death was probably because of her addiction to drugs (like Janice Joplin that great rock star of the sixties or seventies on whose life the movie "The Rose" was based; oh, and even Michael Jackson, I understand). It's so sad when famous artists get to the end of their lives like that.
But her legacy and music will live on for many decades to come.

Really? Did she take drugs? Ah..maybe that was she deserved!! So Robort, just keep away from drugs, such thing is a ghost!!! On my part, I am seriously look down upon these type of people, no matter whether she or he is singer .. You know, once you take drugs, you will not coming back. At the same time, you are bound to the end.

Sorry Vanessa, I thought you were our Vanessa from Liaoning Technical university, but I now realize my mistake! And I'm not Robert too, by the way!
About the drugs, don't be so merciless on them! It's not always such a glamorous life they have as it appears to us from the outside. Lots of pressure to perform to keep the fans happy, lots of distractions like drugs, amongst others. Some can handle that, but some fail, like Whitney, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, and many others. I really have much sympathy with them. So, show some grace, Vanessa. :)
