Haha, Star, to counteract your incredible "ugly duckling", I have to share this from an article I've just read minutes ago in the Southern Metropolis Daily (I think from Quangzhou-area). Two environmental journalists have just received an award for their photographic journalism work in Tibet and the Himalaya mountains.
I find the spelling of the students on this website absolutely horrible! What I can't understand, is that mostly all students that complete my pre-term Needs Analysis forms indicate that their writing and reading skills are the strongest. And on a scale from 1 to 10, most of them give themselves a score of 6 or higher for writing and reading! But when I look at the spelling here on our website, I often wonder by myself where it has gone wrong. Or maybe the students are overestimating themselves when it comes to the skills of writing and reading?!

Read in today's online China Daily about this brilliant plan one clever Chinese guy is planning for Beijing - an ENGLISH only town!! Wow, talking about a visionary!
They said it'll be a kind of tourist town where the people will be allowed to speak only English. It is planned for Miyun county, northeast of the city. Mr Haichen, the party head of the county said their intention is to attract "lovers of English" to this town and provide them an English environment where they can practice the language.

Over the last few weeks, I noticed more activity on the NEC website from some members of this class. What was going on?! But it was yesterday's experience that was the cherry on the cake!
A friend mailed this to me the other day; so, it's not original, but too good not to share with you (at least this doesn't originate from the internet; so, I guess Star might pass it!). Oh, and btw, it could've easily been in China's traffic (except maybe for the taxi driver?!) ...! :)
This week some of our classes had discussions about exams being a waste of time (or not). It appeared that most students didn't like exams and they might even think that it really is wasting time! Were they wrong with that surprising perception? Not necessarily ...! They gave me something to think about. What do you think?
