Does God Exist?
In America, most people (perhaps more than 80%) would say that they believe in God. In China, most people would say that they believe in themselves. Perhaps the word agnostic is a good word to describe the general attitude in China. You can click here to find out what that word means if you're not sure.
So what about you? Do you believe in God? If you do believe in God, how do others treat you? If you don't believe in God, how do you treat people that do believe?
That's our debate zone question for this week. I look forward to reading your comments.

I believe that there is someone or something like God existing.But do God really named God?People call he God,but will he be unhappy if his name is not God?

I can't say that god doesn't exist beacause sometimes something unbelieveable just happened. But our life can't depend on the God. We should bear in mind: the God is busy. He won't spend much time on you.

Yes ，i do believe god does exist.that does't mean it's supernatural or weird.i believe god has nothing to do with anybody，yes ，i believe god because i think god lives in my heart，just my faith.

We should try our best to realise our dreams not to rely on God.I think it does not help.So I do not believe it.If God were really exist there would not lots of poor people.

Actually I DON'T believe that God exist. I don't believe any kind of Gods including the God,the Buddha or other.Because I believe in science.

In the acient China ,the majority of people believed that God and ghost exist.However,after theRevolution of 1911,the government advocated the citizens to corrected the corrupt customs.
I do not believe in God so that I think God does not exist rather than accompaning us.

No matter today or in the past, the existence of God is always a popular topic for people to argue about.
In my opinion，i think everyone is the master of their fate.we should believe in god in our heart，but we shouldn‘t rely on it.personal efforts are the most important things we should do.

Although I know God maybe not exist in the world , I believe in God . When I want to do something I am not confident with or to do someting I consider to be dangerous ,I will pray for God's proction .

I don't think God exits. But I if you think God exits, it exits. In fact, you can believe what you want to believe in China. It's your freedom. Sometimes,I think if more people believe in God or Buddhism and so on, there will be fewer thieves or robbers.

I believe in God.Maybe it esists in everywhere we don't notice.When I face the difficults,I will think of the God that in my heart and face the difficults bravely.As if the God encourages me to face the difficults.And then I have great power.I think the God can lead us when we face the difficults.

I think this is a conflict problem.Different people have different idea.Different positions have differnt choice to choose believe god or yourself.As for me,if I suffer a big trouble,I always pray for god.When I just have a little problem,I could solve it by myself or ake for help from my family and my friends.Therefore,whether the god existen or not just depends on you.

Actually i am not a believer of God.I am a Buddhist because of my grandmother's education.She is a devout buddhist.And why i say yes is because i think buddha is real exist.So i think god also exist.

As you kown,I am a Christian.My whole family are Christian as well.It is sure that I believe GOD exists.Having a relief is so significant for people.Whenever people feel sad or exhausted,they can turn to GOD for help by praying.This kind of method really works for me.It feels like GOD give you strength to face all kinds of situation suddently.God really exist.He helps and cares a lot those people who believe him.God bless us.

I don't think god is exist in the world.when we are in trouble,we can not expect god can halp us,because even if god is exist,there are many people in the world,he can't note you.you must depend on yourself or the people around you.Now that god can't help us,we have no reason to believe in him.

Actually,I don't believe in God,and I don't think it really exists.People who believe God because They are in trouble and no one can help them,so they sak God for help.
As far as I am concerned, everything have reasons and consequence,rather than The God makes everything be like that.And if we are in trouble,we should ask ourselves rather than ask God.

I'm not a believer in Christianity so I don't believe that god exsits.I think people who believe in god just treat as a spiritual sustenance.God is just a beautiful fantacy.It is on behalf of beauty and kindness.But,in fact,god doesn't exist in the real world.

That people who believe God exists just want to remind themselve not to do bad things to hurt people,include themself and to be kind persons.Because God know everything you had done and it will panish you if you did something which are against the spirit of loving everyone.So if we insist on treating everybody good,God exist or not is no sense.

Most Chinese are not religious because the Marxism from our education has kept telling us that religion is nothing but a tool for the ruling class to dominate people. We are always curious about religion while also a little bit afraid of it (probably because we only knew little about it).
As life experience grows richer and richer, I gradually realize that it is not GOD who brings you the miracle but YOU who stays strong enough to pull through the tough times. God only exists in a spiritual way as I assumed. From the deep bottom of our heart there is living a GOD who sends us message when we are desperately seeking for help. But he is not Jesus or Buddha, not even a certain figure but some kind of firm faith that belongs to us.
Therefore, I say that God does exist,but he is not in the heaven and I don't have to do some religious ceremonies to glorify him, for he lives in my heart and I will hold that faith forever.

Iris, thanks for being so honest and telling where this thing originates from, that most Chinese students deny the existence of God. Of course we are aware of this, but it's just good to hear it from a Chinese person (because foreigners are often being accused of not knowing enough about China to "chat about China"!).
However, if marxist propaganda tells that religion (including the religion where people believe that God exists and identify with Him) is only a tool for the ruling class (I guess the rich, the famous and the politically advantaged) to dominate, if falls very short of the truth. Because the truth in China about religion is, that the religion where people believe in the God of the Bible, is the fastest growing religion in the world in particular in China ... and not among the "ruling class", but among the poor people in the rural areas and counties. The so-called ruling class are actually the ones that deny the existence of God.
You have touched on some truths there and one can see that you know more than your average student about this question. It's good to notice that. But you clearly have a few things wrong in your theory or view too (like not admitting that God and Jesus to be "one" as it is believed in the christian faith)! Nonetheless, you're the first one that mentions that God is not a being "out there", but can also be found in the hearts of people (but of course there are conditions to that).
And lastly, another correction of a false believe I notice here in China - people (you and me) are only able to do what they can do by God allowing them to do that as he is their Creator, not the other way round as the marxists want people to believe. A person (you and me) can't be God; we are all too lowly for that! ;-)
