Great pictures, thanks for sharing. The Harbin Ice Festival is on my " to do" list and I believe it would be spectacular to see it in person.

Great photos! I work in Heilongjiang and plan to head out there next week. I'm excited, but I'm a bit weary of the cold :/ Oh well...I'm sure it will be worth it.

Natalia, make sure before you go to Harbin now that there's still anything left of the Ice Festival sculptures and features! As I understood, the Ice Festival only ran from 5 January to early February. So, if that is correct, I suspect that they may have dismantled much of the "ice city" and probably many of the sculptures around town - or at least they may not be keeping it up anymore. I guess there would still be enough to see, but I don't think it may be so spectacular as when the Festival was in full swing. So, before you go, make sure; otherwise you may not share in the excitement! Haha, I'm not Chinese; so maybe I got it wrong! You decide! :)

I'm not sure I posted this reply correctly so I'm re-posting:

Hey Zakumi, One of the Chinese staff invited me. I figured she would probably know if it's still on. I'm only a 1.5 hour train ride from Harbin, so a little day trip wouldn't be such a bad thing, I guess. I imagine you're right about there being less of a "city" left. In the past few weeks, the weather up here has significantly warmed up- in relative terms, because it's still below freezing :) Thanks for the warning, though. I'll double-check just in case.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I've only been to Harbin once...during the SUMMER! :)

I want to go there during the winter sometime and see the festival...

Winter in Harbin is the most beautiful, known as the Bard, the sculptures are the most interesting part.I hope next time you go take a look in winter at Harbin

Wow WJ, you were there too?! Did you go with Zhang Nan from Class 2?! Did you see me there?! And did you see Boston there (and Chen Xiangyu and Amanda)?! They were there too!!

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing! I thought Boston would share his pics looong ago, but he was too shy, I think! So, thanks for bringing back the memories! Yes, Central Avenue was also great - we ate some of Harbin's special ice cream there one evening (yeah, a little crazy being in the middle of winter!). Oh, and the Harbin food was so delicious (and the frankfurters)! Harbin's a beautiful city! :)
